A Case Report of Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst with Ameloblastic Proliferation
Calcifying odontogenic cyst is a developmental odontogenic cyst first described by Gorlin in 1962. It is considered as an extremely rare condition and shows extensive diversity in its clinicopathological appearances and biologic behavior. In this report a rare case of calcifying odontogenic cyst with ameloblastic proliferation (an extremely rare histologic variant) with one year follow – up is ...
متن کاملMyofibroblasts in calcifying odontogenic cyst and dentigerous cyst
Introduction:Calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) is an odontogenic cyst that sometimes shows aggressive behavior, while dentigerous cyst (DC) always has a benign nonaggressive course. There are evidences that myofibroblasts are involved in invasion and their role in biologic behavior of odontogenic cysts has been less understood. So, the aim of the present study was to compare th...
متن کاملRecurrent Peripheral Calcifying Cystic Odontogenic Tumor (Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst)
Peripheral calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor (PCCOT) is a rare odontogenic lesion, which represents about 1% of jaw cysts. Here we report clinicopathologic, radiographic and CT scan images of a new case of recurrent large PCCOT located in mandibular gingiva in a 77-year-old male with history of a nodular mass in the same area, which had been completely excised 3 years ago. In reviewing the...
متن کاملCalcifying cystic odontogenic tumor accompanied by a dentigerous cyst: A case report
A calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor (CCOT) is a proliferation of odontogenic epithelium and scattered nests of ghost cells and calcifications that may form the lining of a cyst, or present as a solid mass. It was previously described by Gorlin et al in 1962 as a calcifying odontogenic cyst. Dentigerous cysts are developmental odontogenic jaw cysts, commonly manifesting in the second and third...
متن کاملCalcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor: a case report.
Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT) is a rare benign lesion. A case of CEOT in the left mandible of a 46-year-old man is presented. This case is exceptionally unusual because it was left untreated for 10 years, indicating in some way the course of the tumor. Histologic findings both at the time of first diagnosis and at the final treatment 9 years later were identical.
